The initial meeting or arrangement conference with the funeral director typically takes place on the day of or the day after a loved one’s passing. During this difficult time, families face numerous decisions in a short period, which can be especially overwhelming in cases of unexpected loss. Selecting the funeral home, deciding on the type of service, arranging the timing of the burial or cremation, notifying loved ones, and coordinating family travel are just a few of the many tasks families must manage.
Upon arrival at the funeral home, you will be warmly greeted by one of our family service advisors, who will guide you to the arrangement conference area and offer you a drink. Our funeral director will then walk you through the process of planning a meaningful funeral, cremation, or celebration of life that honors your loved one. During this time, you’ll be asked to provide vital information for the death certificate and biographical details for the obituary. If you prefer to write the obituary yourself, please email a copy to your funeral director for submission to the newspaper and posting on our website.
