Walter Ray Hodges

Walter Hodges, 66, of Flynn passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, August 7, 2011. He was in the company of his loving wife and his faithful dogs. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 13, at 10:00 am at the Hilltop Lakes Chapel. Services have been entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home.

Walter Hodges was born March 22, 1945 in Amarillo, TX to Huck and Viola Mae (Foster) Hodges. He married Charlene Baldwin on September 5, 1964 in Amarillo, and they had a son, Landon. They have lived in the area since 1979 and Walter has worked as a firefighter for the Houston Fire Department and also at the Nucor Steel Plant in Jewett. He was also a licensed masseuse and helped many people. Walter was a Jack-of-all trades and his greatest joy came from sharing his time and talents with others.

He is survived by his wife Charlene Hodges; a son Landon Hodges; three grandchildren Ashlee, Hilaree, and Landon Aaron Hodges all from Flynn; a brother Calvin Hodges and wife June; a sister Susie Weatherly; two brother-in-laws Ron Baldwin and wife Crista, and Larry Baldwin; two sister-in-laws Vicki Baldwin, and Sherrie Thompson and husband Jim, all from Amarillo, TX; and 30 nieces and nephews.

Walter was preceded in death by both of his parents, Huck and Viola Mae; three sisters Robbie Jo Shoemaker, Linda Marie Reinhardt, and Sherill Longoria; a brother Roy Dale Hodges; and a brother-in-law Lanny Baldwin.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the St. Thomas More Building Fund be made in his honor to PO Box 1400, Hilltop Lakes, 77871; or your favorite charity.
