Velma Christene Culver

Velma Christene Culver, age 81, of Katy passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10:00am at Sand Prairie Baptist Church in George, Tx. with Rev. Larry Andrews, pastor officiating. Interment will follow at George Cemetery.

Christene was born in Bryan on March 7, 1938 to James Floyd and Velma Zulla (Cole) Martin. She spent most of her life in the Houston and Katy area where she met the love of her life Gerald “Jerry” Culver and they married March 14, 1958 in Normangee. She worked from time to time as a teacher’s aide but her favorite job was being a wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, shopping and reading.

She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Jerry and a daughter Kathy and husband Kendrick Wick of Katy and Eryka Mendoza that adopted her as her grandmother.
