Shirley Ann Spikes Dodson, 73, of Flynn left this life surrounded by loved ones at St. Joseph Regional Hospital Monday, April 29.
Visitation is set for Tuesday, April 30, at Cozart Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 1, at Hopewell Cemetery at 10 am. Bro. Dean Weighat will preside over the services. Services entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home.
Shirley Ann Spikes was born July 19, 1939 to her parents Henry Elvis and Bertie Velma (Nash) Spikes. She was married to William Erroll Cotton Dodson Jr. on July 19, 1957.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother and caregiver to all of her family. She enjoyed making art and doing crafts with the grandchildren. Family was her corner stone. She loved to take care of the many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren that were in her life. She was a very loving and caring person. Her last words were praising her family and their love for each other.
Shirley was preceded in death by both of her parents; a son Erroll Butchy Dodson; three sisters Billie Mock, Nancy Currie, and Margerite Harris; two brothers Bobby Spikes and Douglas Spikes; and her mother-in-law Annie Dodson Ware.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years W. E. Cotton Dodson; two sons Billy Charles Skipper Dodson and wife Barbara, and William David Dodson and wife Susan; three daughters Honey LaRue Elliott and Delmar Smith, Denise Renee Dodson, and Linda Dodson and husband Don Montgomery; a daughter of the heart Karen Mosley; three brothers Jim Spikes and wife Sara, Jerry Spikes and wife Mary, and Rickey Spikes and wife Jackie; two sisters Dolly Duhon and Sandy Anderson; 6 grandchildren Sunny Reichert, Darbie Lindsey, Mark Lindsey, Danielle Miller, Stephanie Dodson, and Joshua Dodson; and four great grandchildren Marek Lindsey, Reese Reichert, Aiden Miller, and Cooper Miller; and all the numerous nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
