Shirley Burns, age 78, of Normangee went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A time for the family to receive friends will be Friday, July 12, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Cozart Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 am at Cozart Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Wilson, officiating. Interment will follow at Wealthy Cemetery.
Shirley was born in Cushing, Tx. on March 4, 1941 to James Robert and Elsie Ray (Hardeman) Case. She grew up in Oklahoma City and moved to North Zulch, Tx at the age of 12. She met and married the love of her life Ernest Burns on April 7, 1959. They lived in Houston before moving to the Wealthy Community in 1973. Shirley has been a hairstylist for 38 years at Spanish Cove Beauty Shop and she and Ernest together operated Ernie’s Waashateria from 1986 to the present. They were married for 59 years before his passing on August 15, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Robbie Wright and Ann Braaton.
Shirley has lived in the Normangee community for over 50 years and has many friends she is leaving behind, especially the many ladies, that she took such great care of, as their hairdresser.
Left to mourn her passing are her two daughters, Tammy and husband Patrick Pauley and Dian Burns – Yell. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Jeremy Burns, Megan and Russell Muirheid, Rebecca and Ty Bryson, Louis Williams, Dezmond Yell, Drayton Yell, Dawson Yell, Dayne Yell as well as several great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her loving brother J.R. and wife Beth Case.
