Randall Douglas Strickland

February 18, 1954 — February 23, 2019

Randy Strickland passed away on February 23, five days after his 65th birthday after a courageous and tenacious two year battle against cancer.

Randy was born on February 18, 1954 in Freeport, the youngest of four children of John E. and Audrey Switzer Strickland.  He grew up in Freeport and graduated from Brazosport High School in 1972 where he was an All County linebacker his senior year.  He was an electrician by trade and over the last 40 years worked on many commercial and residential projects throughout central Texas, primarily in the Bryan-Austin area.  He was an intelligent and well-read man who could converse on just about any topic.

He was preceded in death by Mom in 2013, and Dad in 2018. He is survived by his son Matthew of Brenham and his two grandsons, Dylan and Aidan, the brightest stars in his universe.  He is also survived by his sisters Sharon Stewart (Wayne) of Normangee, Robbye Prilop (Don) of Brazoria, and brother Mike (Linda) of Austin, and many nephews and nieces.

Services will be at a later date at the Macy Community Cemetery in central Texas, and will be handled by the Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee, Texas.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Episcopal Church in Freeport, or the charity of choice.

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the outstanding medical staff at Scott & White in Temple and Bryan, to the High Hope Hospice in Brenham and to his hospice nurse, Amber, of Texas Home Health-Hospice.
