Mary Betty Hayes, 88, of Normangee went to the Lord Thursday, June 26, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be held Friday, June 27, from 6-8 at the Cozart Funeral Home. A Celebration of her life will be at Cozart Funeral Home Saturday, June 28, at 2 pm. Burial will follow at the Hopewell Cemetery.
Mary Betty (King) Hayes, was born September 3, 1925 in her home by Timpson to John and Maggie King. She married Melvin Hayes and was blessed with their son Raymond.
Mary survived the Great Depression, WWI and WWII. She was a riveter girl that repaired damaged aircrafts. She was a devoted wife, mother and stepmother and loved her family very much. She owned her own beauty salon and was a seamstress. Mary loved music and was very active in playing the piano and being in numerous choirs.
Mary was preceded in death by both parents John and Maggie King; her husband Melvin Hayes; her son Raymond Lee Hayes; two stepchildren and all of her siblings.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
