Mary Helen Grimes, of Flynn, lost her battle with cancer at age 75 in Bryan, TX, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, on August 31, 2013. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 3, from 6 to 8 pm at the First Baptist Church Flynn. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 4, at 10 am at the First Baptist Church Flynn. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.
Mary Helen was born in Flynn, TX September 1, 1937. The daughter of Mary Elizabeth Grimes & Avril Doss Douthitt. Mary’s siblings include Iawanda Faye Hodges, Mitty Irlin Sapp, James Doss Douthitt, and Avril Dwayne Douthitt.
Mary Helen attended Flynn Grade School and Normangee High School in her early years. She was married to Martin Grimes on January 1, 1967, in San Antonio, TX. She worked several years at JcPenney, followed by 17 years at the Leon County Tax Office. She also spent much time with her dear friends Neil Copeland & Naomi Greer.
She is survived by her husband, Martin Henry “Buck” Grimes of Flynn, TX; three children James Doyle Warner and Wesley Avril Warner of Flynn, TX, Timmy Ray Warner and Finance Darla Marie Davis of Houston, TX; her grandchildren Kelley Aire McFarland and wife Jennifer, Kristen Leigh Strahan and husband Bobby, Jeremy Doyle Warner and wife Amy, Lauren Jade Kocurek, Zachary Travis Miller and wife Tabatha, Justin Travis Warner and wife Melissa, Brittney Ray Bockmon, James Doyle Warner, Jr., and Jacob Ray Warner; her great-grandchildren Christopher Forshee, Kayla McFarland, Trevor McFarland, Shawn Strahan, Jeremy Doyle Warner, Jr., Haidyn McFarland, Chanler McFarland, Aubrie Warner, Landon Matthews, Gavin Warner, Payton Strahan, and Race Wilder Wilson; grandchildren by marriage Jessica, Stephanie, Aaron, Laura, Dustin, Danielle, Jaydon, McKenzie and Tristan.
Mary Helen was proceeded in death by her parents Avirl & Mary Elizabeth Douthitt, her first husband Travis Doyle Warner, her daughter Tammy Davis, her daughter Robin Kocurek, her son Rickey Warner, and her beloved Chihuahua Buddy Dog.
The pallbearers include Zach Miller, Jeremy Warner, Kelley McFarland, James Edward, Bill Elsbury, and Jacob Warner.
