Katie Lou DeBouy was born in Galveston, TX on August 19, 1929 to her parents Percival and Florain (Alexander) DeBouy. Katie was a high school graduate and earned her Master Degree from Duke University. She was married to Bill Jones March 12, 1960. They just celebrated their 47 Wedding Anniversary this year. Katie was a kind and caring soul, she would take in any stray animal that would cross her path. If you ever needed a meal she designated herself the Offical cook for Leon and Madison Counties. She couldn’t let anyone leave without a good meal in them.

She was a very active member of the Methodist Church and started many groups. Her sewing circle would make quilts and Christmas blankets and pass them out to the nursing homes. Another group she founded was the Building Blocks Bakery where they would do fund raisers for the Family Life Center. This group was a major contributor for the Family Life Center. She was also the church treasurer for over 30 years and a Sunday school teacher for just as long. Katie gave to make this world a better place and it was better because she was in it.

Katie is survived by her husband Bill Jones; her sister Lorain Helton; a nephew Felix Helton; and her cousin Walter Gates; she also leaves behind all of her many friends who she cared so much about. In lieu of flowers please make donations to First United Methodist Church of Normangee or your favorite charity.
