Jack Roger Hoogterp, 89, of Flynn passed away Sunday, August 31, at home in Flynn. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 2, at Cozart Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 3, at 10:00 am in the First Baptist Church Flynn. Bro. Roger Hoogterp will preside over services with the help of Bro. Dee Black and Rev. Ken Bugh. Burial will follow the service at the Clear Creek Cemetery. Funeral services have been entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.
Jack Roger Hoogterp was born November 14, 1924 to his parents Thomas William (Willie) and Nora (Rodgers) Hoogterp. Jack graduated high school and went into the Army and was a Sergeant. After getting out of the military he went to work for Amoco Oil from which he retired. He was married to the love of his life Wanda Keith Cox on April 16, 1949. Jack was a hunter and loved to fish. He moved back to Flynn after retiring and bought a farm. He enjoyed running his farm and growing a garden for his friends and family. Jack was a family man and was always active with his church. Jack was also a Deacon for the church and very active with the youth ministries.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Wanda Keith Hoogterp; two sons Roger Hoogterp and wife Dianne, and Keith Hoogterp and wife Sandra; a daughter Pamela Schusler and husband Mark; six grandsons David Hoogterp, Michael Hoogterp, Eric Scheiner and wife Susan, Jeremy Scheiner and wife Jennie, Justin Scheiner and wife Jamie, and Jake Hoogterp and wife Laci; and four great grandchildren Lilli Scheiner, Hudsyn Scheiner, Lyncoln Scheiner, and Jack Scheiner.
