J. R. Cravey

James Roy “J.R.” Cravey, 87 of Normangee passed away Tuesday, March 4, at his home. Memorial graveside services were held 11 am Saturday, March 8, at Clear Creek Cemetery. Bro. Dee Black presided over services. Burial of ashes followed at Clear Creek Cemetery. Funeral services entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home.

J.R. Cravey was born November 24, 1926 in Huntsville, TX to his parents Baron LaPrelle and Annie Mae (Sandel) Cravey. He enlisted at age 17 to the US Navy and fought in WWII. In 1946 he went on reserve duty and was called back in 1951 for the Korean War. J.R. went to Sam Houston State University for three years. He was married to Estelle Pope on February 20, 1949 and was happily married for 65 years. They raised two daughters Pam and Ann in Pasadena, TX. J.R. was very involved in his church. He enjoyed vacationing and camping with family and friends.

J.R. is survived by his wife Estelle Cravey; two daughters Pam Gagnon and Ann McCarver; a granddaughter Jennifer McCarver; and two great granddaughters Haley and Hannah.
