Isabel Elizabeth Smith, 85, of Normangee, passed away Friday, December 19, at the Friendship Haven Healthcare facility in Friendswood, TX. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23, at 11 am in the Harmony Baptist Church. The viewing will be one hour before the service at the church. Bro. Don Swindol will preside over services. Burial will follow at the Hopewell Cemetery. Funeral services have been entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.
Isabel Elizabeth Wolfington was born November 12, 1929 in Houston, TX to her parents George and Alice (Byrd) Wolfington. She was married to William Bryan Smith Jr. on November 23, 1948. Isabel was very active in her community and a member of the WMA, Eastern Star, Service Club and the Daughters of the Revolution. She was an active member of her church and taught Sunday school for many years. Isabel also helped by volunteering at the Normangee Community Library. She had many hobbies which included crocheting, knitting, reading, cooking Gumbo and many delicious pies. Isabel major interests were her family and her children, and especially her grandchildren.
Isabel is survived by her six sons; William Smith and wife Donna, Jerry Smith and wife Dana, Terry Smith, John Smith, Kenneth Smith and wife Leslee, and Thomas Smith; grandchildren Tonishia and Mike Van Pelt, Jackee and Dave Donalson, Mercedes and Kyle Laughlin, Mary Smith, Shawn and Jason Miller, Nick Smith, and Niketa Smith; great grandchildren Kylee, Gunner, Blake, London, Makenna, David, Henry, and Isabella; and a great-great granddaughter, Ajah.
