Henry Adrion III, of Hilltop Lakes, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 25, 2013. Family graveside services were held Friday, November 29, at the Ten Mile Cemetery. Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 7, at the First Baptist Church Normangee from 1 to 3 pm in the Family Life Center.
Henry Adrion III was born to Anita (Brice) and Henry Adrion Jr. in Shreveport, LA in 1935. He moved to the State of Texas in 1953 when his father was transferred to San Antonio. He graduated from Trinity University in 1957, received his Masters of Divinity in 1960 and his Doctorate of Ministry in 1984 from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. As a minister for over 50 years, he served as pastor of Elm Grove Baptist Church in Waelder, TX; Muldoon Baptist Church in Muldoon, TX; First Baptist Church, Eagle Lake, TX; Bethel Baptist Church, Houston, TX; Polytechnic Baptist Church, Ft. Worth, TX; University Baptist Church, Clear Lake City, TX; First Baptist Church, Texas City, TX. In addition, Henry was the Director of Church Services for the Baptist General Convention of Texas from 1983-1994. Since retirement, he has served in numerous churches as interim pastor in central Texas area.
Henry was a contributor to the Baptist Sunday School Board (Lifeway) publications, a member of the Board of Directors for Galveston County Hospice Care Team; trustee for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor for 16 years; trustee for Herman-Memorial Hospital System; trustee of the Brotherhood Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention; member of the Christian Education Coordinating Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas; member of the Executive Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas and served in numerous other capacities locally and statewide.
Henry was a wonderful husband, devoted father and loving grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Ann Hatcher Adrion, two daughters one son and their families: Michele Halliburton and husband Steve; their children: Corey and Jessica Halliburton and Clayton Halliburton; Monica Manning and husband Brad; their children: Jacob and Samuel; and Mark Henry Adrion and wife Karol; their children: Karley, Haley and Hannah.
