Flora Bell Hardin, 81, was called home to the Lord on March 14, 2016. Visitation was held at Cozart Funeral Home on Sunday, March 20, from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church Normangee on Monday, March 21, at 2 pm. Burial followed services in the Shiloh Cemetery in Robertson County. Bro Bob Shirley presided over services. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home.
Flora Bell Traxler was born in Mound, LA on March 4, 1935 to her parents Ezra and Ella (Atkins) Traxler. She married Roy Smith and started a family. Roy preceded her in death at a young age and Flora raised the children by working as a store clerk. Later on she met and married Leon Hardin and he loving joined her family. They lived in Normangee for many years raising their family. Flora was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed doting on them as much as possible. She was also very talented in the garden raising vegetables and many different kinds of flowers. She enjoyed their beauty and the birds that would stop by to enjoy the nectar. Flora was an avid hunter, fisher and just enjoyed being outdoors.
Flora was preceded in death by both parents Ezra and Ella Traxler; her first husband Roy Smith, and her second Leon Hardin.
She is survived by her children; son, Charles Smith and wife Teresa, daughters, Wanda Alexander and husband Barry, Kathy Varela and husband Mario, Betty Vance, and Mary King and husband Bryan; a brother, Douglas Traxler; two sisters Minnie Lou Bourgoyne, and Hazel Thorton; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
