Eunice Myrle Gilbert Hodges

Eunice Myrle Gilbert Hodges born January 11, 1925, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 1, 2024, just short of her hundredth birthday. Eunice loved the Lord, and she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and they loved her.

In her younger years, she loved volleyball and ping pong. In the later years it was bridge, spades and pitch. All of which she was very good at.

Eunice married the love of her life Elmer Ben Hodges, and they were married 64 years before he preceded her in death. Together they raised four children in the Houston/ Spring area. They retired back to their hometown of Normangee in 1982.

She was preceded in death by her parents Wharton Randall Gilbert and Salla Artie Bates Gilbert; 2 brothers, Arnold Gilbert and Raymond Gilbert, and a sister, Martha Harrell. Son, Elmer Tracy Hodges; 2 grandchildren, Gary B. Garceau and Donald Wayne Hodges and one great-grandchild, Jackson Hodges.

Eunice is survived by her 2 sons, Donald Hodges (Mildred) and Gilbert Hodges Sr. (Tena); daughter, Debbie Garceau (Gary); 7 grandchildren, Mark Garceau (Katrina), Brandie Savell (Corey), Kelby Vice (Laura); Dustin Vice (Carrie), Gilbert Hodges Jr. (Lauren), Kathryn Garver (Matt), Cheryl Hodges-Paloski (Nathan), 25 great grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Hopewell Cemetery in Normangee, Texas. Express condolences to the family at www.Cozartfuneralhome.com.
