Ernest Dayton Burns, age 83, passed away Wednesday, August 15 2018 in Bryan. A time for the family to receive friends will be Saturday August 18, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Cozart Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Cozart Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Wilson, officiating. Interment will follow at Wealthy Cemetery.
Ernie was born in Wealthy, Tx. on November 2, 1934 to Charles and Oma (Spikes) Burns. He grew up in this area and after serving in the US Army during the Korean War he came back to this area making his living as an electrician. He married the love of his life Shirley (Case) Burns on April 7, 1959. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Ernie’s true enjoyment was fishing, gardening and watching and taming wildlife. He enjoyed making pets out of squirrels and videoing birds. Anyone that knew him, knew him to be honest and a man of his word.
Ernie is survived by his wife Shirley, two daughters Dian Burns-Yell and Husband Dwan and Tammy and husband Patrick Pauley. As well as a brother Clifford and wife Martha Burns and a brother-in-law Milton Wiese. He also leaves behind his nine grandchildren, Jeremy Burns, Megan Morgan, Rebecca and husband Ty Bryson, Louis Williams, Dezmond Yell, Drayton Yell, Dawson Yell, Dayne Yell and Becky Pauley as well as nine great grandchildren.
