Elbert Copeland

Elbert “Cope” Copeland of Hilltop Lakes, Texas passed away suddenly Thursday, April 8, 2021 in College Station, Texas.

Cope is survived by his wife Kristen Copeland, first wife and mother of his children Nancy Copeland, daughter Tammy Reilly (Michael), son Charles Copeland (Susie), grandchildren Charlie (Kelly), Lauren (Bill), Cameron as well as two great-grandchildren.  Cope had many friends and relatives too many to name, but he will be missed by all, especially his dear friend Alan Kiele.

Born in Marquez, Texas on July 2, 1941 to Elbert Copeland Sr. and Lois Johnson Copeland.  The family settled in Hearne, Texas.  Cope was very proud to be a 32nd degree Mason.

He began working for G.A.T.X. a railroad tank care service center when he was 18.  Subsequently he worked for other prominent railcar maintenance and repair facilities working his way up to Executive Vice President/General Manager in his mid-forties.  Cope settled in Delaware where he started his own railcar maintenance/repair/cleaning facility.  Triple C Railcar, which was a family, owned and operated company.  He retired the industry in 2012.

Cope will be remembered for his smile, his great dancing and for “never meeting a stranger”.

Funeral services will be private.
