Douglas Wayne Kyle of Normangee passed away peacefully January 17, 2021 at the age of eighty six and is now reunited with his Heavenly wife of 66 years, Hattie Corene Kyle. Doug was born in Normangee, Texas March 25, 1934 and lived most of his life there. He graduated Valedictorian of Normangee High School and married his high school sweetheart September 4, 1954. He served in the US Army, stationed in South Dakota. Doug worked for many years at Dresser Industries before returning home to Normangee to fulfill his dream of owning his own store. He and his wife operated Kyle’s Korner Grocery in Normangee for thirty years. He served as mayor of Normangee for several years and was long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an avid Numismatist and enjoyed reading.
Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Corene; Parents, Jimmie Lee and Nola Mae Kyle; Brother, James Kyle; Great-Grandsons, Kourage Valor Lucherk & Krete Kyle Lucherk.
Surviving family members include his brother, Joe Kyle of Dawson, TX; sister Betty Sue Smith of Houston, TX; Daughter, Cindy Kyle of Oklahoma City, OK; Son, Mike Kyle and wife Marie of College Station, TX; Son, Brian Kyle and wife Renia of North Zulch; Granddaughter, Casey Jeanine Lucherk and husband Kie of North Zulch; Grandson, Keilan Douglas Kyle and wife Misty of North Zulch; Grandson, Klute Gaston Kyle of North Zulch; Great-Granddaughers, Kaisley Corene Lucherk and Kessa Pauline Lucherk of North Zulch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held graveside from 2:30-3:00 pm followed by a graveside service at 3:00 pm at the Hopewell Cemetery in Normangee on Saturday January 23, 2021. Pastor Olan Weaver will officiate
