Doris Juanita Grimes

Doris Juanita Grimes, 87, of Marquez, went to the Lord Sunday, May 20. She was surrounded by loved ones. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 23, at the Clear Creek Baptist Church at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Bowling Cemetery. Presiding over the services will be Brother Ray Payne and Brother Lee Weiler. Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 22, at the Clear Creek Baptist Church from 6 to 8 pm. Services have been entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home.

Doris Juanita Payne was born in Marquez, Texas on May 11, 1925. Her loving parents were Ed Payne and Annie Morse Payne. Doris was married to Ancil Hobson Grimes, Jr. on March 2, 1946. Doris was always active she would go fishing or tend to her garden. Doris was a lifelong member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church. She loved her children and grandchildren very much they played an important role in her life. Doris also loved to sit and play electronic card games on the computer.

Doris was preceded in death by both parents; her husband Ancil Hobson Grimes, Jr.; two grandsons Randy Wayne Evans and Brian Coakey Evans; a granddaughter Laura Ann Elizabeth Evans; and two brothers Gene Walton Payne and Cecil Ray Payne.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Smith of Marquez, and Dianne Evans of Marquez; a brother Paul Payne of Beaumont; two grandsons, David Evans and Michael Smith both of Marquez; and three granddaughters, Stephanie Ellison of Tomball, Lisa Smith and Jenny Smith both of Houston.
