Donald Lee Kopecky, 57, of Flynn, was called home to the Lord Wednesday, January 14. Viewing and funeral services will be held at Flynn Assembly of God on Saturday, January 17. Viewing will from 12:30 pm to 2 pm with Funeral services at 2pm. Bro. Rick Smith will preside over services. Donald will be cremated and his remains will be buried at the family plots at a later date. Services have been entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.
Donald Kopecky was born in Baytown on June 7, 1957 to his parents Elo J. Kopecky Sr. and Janie (Nesrsta) Kopecky. Donald was called to the ministry in his late teens. He was a Pastor, teaching about the Bible, and serving the Lord thru song. Donald was the Chief of the Palacios Fire Department and was active with them for many years. His hands were very gifted he could fix anything, which made him a jack of all trades. This helped him find a career that was dear to his heart, Texas Baptist Encampment, where he would fix anything that needed fixing as the Maintenance Supervisor. He also helped with the children programs and even filled in in the kitchen. Donald enjoyed fishing in Palacios on his time off, which lead to his other passion cooking. He loved to cook big family meals and you never left hungry.
Donald is survived by his brothers; Elo J. Kopecky Jr., Lonnie W. Kopecky and wife Betty, and James W. Kopecky and wife Donna; his sisters; Joyce Aldridge and husband Jim, and Doris McNeese; and many Nieces and Nephews. Preceded in death by both his parents; Elo and Janie Kopecky; and a nephew Timothy McNeese.
