Claude Barksdale Williams, Jr., age 60 of Flynn, gained his angel wings and went to be with his Lord on Friday, September 16, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
Claude was born September 19, 1955 to Claude and Norma Carolyn (Horton) Williams Sr. in Gurdon, Arkansas. He lived in Bryan, Texas, where he and Cheri met before marrying and settling in Flynn, Texas where they enjoyed 32 years of marriage.
Claude lived his life doing many things including working at NuCor Steel before venturing out into business for himself as the owner of Flynn Grocery and also part owner at Newsom Broiler Farms. He truly enjoyed coaching Little Dribblers Basketball and Flag Football. All that knew him knew that he was funny, outgoing, and a perfectionist. No one enjoyed mowing the grass and playing at the lake any more than Claude.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Cheri of Flynn, a son Matthew and wife Tonya Williams of Normangee, Texas, two daughters, Courtney and husband Jamie Dunn of Normangee, Texas, Chelsea Williams of College Station, Texas, as well as grandchildren, Katelynn, Jett, Skyla, Tanner, Madison, Bailey and Mason. He is also survived by his mother Carolyn Blake of Chandler,Texas and his sister Lynda Hix and husband Doug of Chandler,Texas. Claude also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A time for the family to receive friends will be Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Flynn Assembly of God Church in Flynn, Texas. Funeral services will be Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at Flynn Assembly of God with Pastor Rick Smith, Bro. Tuffy Loftin and Larry Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at the Newsom Family Cemetery.
