Carl Melvin Caldwell, age 94, died on 2/12/2020, in Hospice Inpatient Facility in Bryan, Texas.
Carl Melvin “Mel” Caldwell was born on 26th day of July 1925 in Normangee, TX, to Emmett E. Caldwell and Ruby Myrtle Johnston. He attended Ten Mile School through 10th grade. He proudly served his country from 1943-1946 as a U. S. Navy Seabee CBMU 592 during WWII in the South Pacific Marshall Islands.
Mel is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 40 years; his children Patricia Gail Williams of Madisonville, Texas; Sue and Jim Patterson of Riverside, California, and Joan Margaret and Robert Robbins of Santa Fe, TX; 9 grandchildren,11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; his sister Glenda and brother-in-law Milton Griffith. He is preceded in death by his daughters Sherry LaVere and Judy Caldwell; grandson John “Skipper” Eskridge; Siblings, Thelma, Bobby Gene and Orval Caldwell.
Mel was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving and caring person. Mel was an active man who enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Mel attended Ten Mile Baptist Church during his childhood days. He was an active member at Harmony Baptist Church in Normangee since 1994.
A time for the family to receive friends will be Friday, February 14, 2020 from 5-7 pm at Cozart Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Ten Mile Baptist Church February 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at Harmony Baptist Church. Bro. Bud Magee and Bro. Don Swindol will officiate. All are welcome to attend his celebration of life. The family would like to thank Hospice Brazos Valley for their excellent care.
