Bobby “Bob” Paul Parker, Sr., 88, of Longview, and formerly of Normangee and Beaumont, Texas, passed away peacefully Monday, February 22, 2021. Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Service honoring Bob at 11:00 am Saturday, March 6 at Hopewell Cemetery in Normangee. Services are in the care of Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.
Bob was born September 27, 1932, in Normangee, Texas, to Marvin Lee and Ruby Parker. He was a member of the Rotary Club in Vidor, Texas, for many years, where he also owned his own salvage yard, Freeway Auto Parts, and the Salvage Guide. Bob was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a staunch supporter of education. Having been impacted and inspired by one of his high school teachers, he received both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Sam Houston State University, sometimes having to hitch rides to get back and forth to college. He loved playing golf with his friends and eating breakfast at the Waffle House. He was a generous supporter of his alma mater of Normangee, Texas for the Ex-Students Association of Normangee, Texas, and helped to raise money for scholarships for graduating seniors.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lena Parker, and his brother Pete Parker.
He is survived by his sister Audee Reed of Flynn, Texas; his son, Bobby Parker, Jr of Vidor, Texas and his children T.J. Parker, Allan Parker and his wife Leann, Julie Parker, and Lizzie Parker; his daughter Becky Parker Meitzen and her husband Jimmie of Longview, Texas and their daughters, Makenzie Meitzen and Maggie Meitzen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Normangee Ex-Students Association, c/o Normangee High School, ATTN: Kim Tesch, PO Box 219, Normangee, TX 77871 for scholarships for graduating seniors.
