Bertha Mae Hammock, 93, passed away on Monday June 17, 2024 at her home in North Zulch, Texas. Funeral will be held Thursday June 20, 2024 at Willowhole Cemetery (12910 Farm To Market Rd 1372 North Zulch, Texas 77872) Visitation starts at 10AM, Service at 11am, Graveside at noon and reception to follow at Harmony Baptist Church

Bertha was born on September 25, 1930 in St. Lawrence South Dakota to father Floyd Grimm and mother Eliza Frances Grimm. She was the next to oldest of ten children. She went to college in Oklahoma then moved to Houston and worked in the shipping industry for 26 years. Here she spent her time raising her two sons and enjoyed watching baseball, working around her home and tending to her garden and chickens. She was a member of the BMA for many, many years. Bertha was a faithful child of God with perfect attendance every Sunday for 31 years serving as a teacher inspiring and educating youthful minds to the word of God at Munn Street Baptist Church.
In 1998 Bertha and husband Bill bought their home in North Zulch Texas where they lived out their final years. She became a devoted member of Harmony Baptist Church in Normangee Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Artie and Wayne; her sisters Elnora, Evelyn and Bulah; her husband Arthur “Bill”; her son David and great grandson Austin.

She is survived by her son Arlen (wife Karen); her grandchildren Steven (wife Diana, daughter Catherine), Janna (son Nicholas, daughters Victoria and Kimberly), Dayna (husband Ricky, daughter Autumn, son Case) and Trey (wife Sarah, sons Reese and Reed); brother Raymond; sisters Bessie, Mary and Florence.
