Anna Elisabeth Smith, 19, of Normangee entered into her eternal rest on Sunday, August 28, 2011. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Normangee beginning at 10:00 am. She will be laid to rest next to her family at Hopewell Cemetery following the church services. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, in the Cozart Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Services have been entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home.
Brian Smith and Cindy Bartnett have had the privilege and honor of parenting Anna Smith. Their miracle was brought into this world November 12, 1991 in College Station, TX. Anna was raised in Normangee were she was a very active youth and accomplished many things. She helped her Little Dribblers team win the national championship four times and played several seasons of softball with similar success. Anna was an active 4-H member and loved the FFA. As an FFA member, Anna learned to raise various animals for show and enjoyed competing in horse riding events. She loved music, art, fishing, participating in the community, and driving her little red car while loving life.
Anna also had an active school life where she was a junior high cheerleader. In later years she was an accomplished leader when she held many offices in National Honor Society and Student Council. Her talents helped her excel in competitions like University Interscholastic League. She was adored by her classmates and was elected to Senior Duchess and Football Sweetheart. Anna graduated from Normangee High School with Honors and enrolled in college at Texas A&M. At her passing Anna was attending Mays School of Business at A&M. Anna has accomplished so much in such a short time on earth and all while fighting against her illness and her family is so proud of her for never giving up hope.
Anna was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Bernard Robert and Beverly Claire Smith of Great Barrington, Mass.
She is survived by her parents, Cynthia Cindy Bartnett and Brian Joseph Smith; adored by her maternal grandparents Dr. William A. II and Shirley Bilsing; her brothers, Bernie Smith, Asa, Eli, Austin and Tyler Bartnett; aunts and uncles, Billy and Kay Bilsing, and cousin Tammy and her child Creek; Kimber and Todd Butler and their children Bryanna, Chelsea, and Emily; Bert and Heather Bilsing and their children Bo, Cassie, and Serinity; Steve and Arleen Bilsing and their children Leah, Adam, and Andrew; Dean and Tracey Bilsing and their Sam and Hugo; Paul and Karen Bilsing and their daughter Jessica; Kathryn Bilsing and her son Duncan; Sherry and Mark Graham and their son Gavin; Steve Tenalio and Michael Ray; Bernadette Musgrave and her son Tyler; and Barbara and Bob Denley; Stepfather and family, Robert Bartnett, Cheryl Keller and Daniel, Kathleen Shwarz, and RC and Allie.
