Anna Mae Rigsby

Anna Mae Rigsby, 73, passed away Tuesday, May 7, at her home in Hilltop Lakes surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held at the Hilltop Lakes Chapel on Thursday, May 9, from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, May 10, at the Hilltop Lakes Chapel. Bro. Danny Barrett will preside over the services. Burial will follow at Willowhole Cemetery near North Zulch, TX. Services have been entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home. Anna Mae Kerwood was born May 29, 1939 to her parents Harry Alfred and Opal Okal (Sheltz) Kerwood in Nitro, WV. She was a High School graduate and worked for an insurance company. Anna Mae married Hugh David Rigsby and they’ve been happily married 53 years.

A mother can replace anyone, but no one can replace a mother

This is a plaque that Anna held on to; it was given to her some time ago. But Anna, Nana, Aunt Nana, the notorious Mrs. Hugh David Rigsby, took this saying to a whole new level. Anna was whatever, whoever, you needed her to be; A personal chef, a nurse when you are hurt, and a lifeguard when the grandkids wanted to swim. She was always the banker when you wanted to play Monopoly. She would even be our room service if we forgot to make our beds. Nana was a taste of the 50’s when you wanted a homemade milkshake, and boy did she love a garage sale! Everyone she met, she was a friend to, and throughout her fight; the friend she had been to so many was reflected by the care and prayers for her and her family. She was a loving wife, a mother, grandmother, an aunt, sister, and guardian angel when we need one most…..when Hugh is in the kitchen! Her love could replace whatever void was in your heart, and was so vast, we each have enough to last us our own lifetimes. She is irreplaceable. She is our Anna, our Nana.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, Harry and Opal Kerwood; and a son Randall Rigsby.

She is survived by her husband, Hugh Rigsby of Hilltop Lakes; four daughters, Melissa Green and husband Phil of Santa Fe, Alexia Rigsby of Dickinson, Teresa Davidson and husband Mike of Madisonville, and Davida Rigsby of Galveston; three sisters, Edith Lane, Bonnie Hawley, and Charlcie Morrison; eight grandchildren, Hunter Green and wife Nataly, Casey Green, Layla Wray and husband Billy, April Covington and husband Jeff, Michael Davidson II and wife Stephanie, Anna Gonzalez and husband Danny, Jessica Rice and husband Randy, and David Ramirez and wife Jessica; 11 great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren; and Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many family friends.
