A celebration of life was held Tuesday, September 17th for Michael Rex Greer, 65 of Normangee, at first Baptist Church in Normangee. Burial was held at Greer Family Cemetery, located at Greer Ranch. Mike passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born June 24, 1948 in Bryan, Texas. He graduated from Normangee High School in 1966. Mike proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1967 until 1971. He was a Vietnam veteran. He married his wife Rebecca (Becky) Greening on September 9, 1978 in Cleveland, Texas. In his younger years, Mike played the guitar, played in several bands, and continued his love for music throughout his life. He also loved to travel and lived for a time in Maui, Hawaii, where he became a boat captain and a scuba diver. He also enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved to fish! Mike worked as an electrician for many years. Before retiring, he worked 7 years as Facilities and Fleet Manager at MHMRABV, in Bryan, Texas. Mike was a loving husband and father who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by both of his parents, Zane Rex Greer and Faye Ola (Warner) Greer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years; Becky Greer, three sons, Chris Greer of Normangee, David Greer and wife Lauren of Huntsville, and Brian Greer of Normangee; a granddaughter Emma Michelle Greer; two sisters, Carolyn Morris and husband BT Morris of Normangee, and Jo Lynn Roberson of Bryan; a brother Ron Greer and wife Alba Luz of Madisonville; 6 nephews, John Greer, Ben Morris, John DeHart, James DeHart, Zach Brewer, and Austin Roberson; 3 nieces, Missy Parker, Jessica Wallace and Shawna Alexander; 7 great nephews; 4 great nieces; 1 great-great nephew; and numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers are as follows Austin Roberson, Ben Morris, Milton Keefer, David Keefer, John DeHart, and James DeHart. Honorary pallbearers John Greer, Steven Davis, and J. W. Alewine. Services have been entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee. Pastor Wade Phillips presided over services.
