Lois “Flo” Bennett, 86, formerly of Normangee, passed away Friday July 16, 2021 in Jewett, Texas. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Tuesday, July 20 at Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee. Funeral services are set for 10am Wednesday July 21 at First Baptist Church in Flynn, Texas, with interment to follow at Gum Springs Cemetery. Services are in the care of Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.

Lois Florine “Flo” Bennett was born on July 24, 1934 to Albert Bowen “Bert” Jennings and wife Wynona “McKnight” Jennings.  She was their oldest child.  She went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 16, 2021.  She married to James Preston “Buddy” Bennett on September 21, 1951.  They raised three children, Marcus James, Margaret Suzanne (Payne), and Albert Bowen “Bo” Bennett. 

Flo was born again at the age of nine when she accepted Jesus Christ as Savior.  She was a faithful and long-time member of the Baptist church, in recent years at First Baptist Church in Flynn, Texas.  She was a woman of deep faith and an ongoing servant of the Lord.  She taught children, women’s class, and others for years.  She was also very active in WMA and other areas in the church body.  She was always quick to share her faith and talk about God’s word.

She worked at several of the local merchants and was well known and enjoyed throughout the community, always willing to share a funny story.  She was civic minded and very active politically and she served for years as a poll judge.  She and her husband Buddy were always ready to help others in the community.

Flo was a family woman, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and soon to be great-great-grandmother.  She leaves behind a living legacy of family:  daughter Margaret Suzanne “Suzy” Payne, and husband Ray: Bo Bennett and wife Aranna; Nephews: Tim and Matthew Morris, whom she helped raise and treated as her own.  Grandchildren: Brent Payne, Amber and husband Chris Generale, Erin and husband John Snook, Faith and husband Justin Palmer, Skylar and wife Haley Bennett, Kelly and husband Peyton Newsom, Jaclyn Renfrow, Haley Jo Jakubik; twenty six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband “Buddy” Bennett, her parents, Bert and Wynona Jennings, and her son Mark.
