Lila Faye Griffith, 93, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 2, at Riverwood Health and Rehab.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 4, at Cozart Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 5, at 2 pm in the Harmony Baptist Church. Bro. Don Swindol will preside over services. Burial will follow at Ten Mile Cemetery.

Lila Faye Lee was born September 17, 1919 to her parents Luther and Ruth Cole Lee. She was born just outside Normangee near Ten Mile. Lila Faye was married to her husband Earl A. Griffith, Sr. July 17, 1953. Lila Faye was a school teacher for many and has her Masters Degree from U of H. She was honored for her years of service at the Normangee Elementary School. Lila Faye loved her children and grandchildren; she would read to them out loud and also make them read to her. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Lila Faye would meet up with a group of gospel singers and make a joyful noise. Lila Faye loved sports and even lately she would listen to the radio to see how the Normangee girl’s team was doing.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, a son Earl A. Griffith, Jr., two brothers Odell Lee and Melvin Lee, a grandson Paul Griffith, a grand daughter-in-law Brenda Griffith, and two great-grandsons Lucas Griffith and Billy Rutledge.

Survivors include a son Milton Griffith and wife Glenda; a daughter Sherrie Shirley and husband Marshall; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren, with a host of relatives and friends.

  1. MS. GRIFFITH WAS A “LADY” THAT MADE AN IMPRESSION ON MY HEART IN THE 4TH GRADE. ALWAYS LOVING, KIND, UNDERSTANDING, AND WITH A SMILE. SHE WAS THE BEST TEACHER AND FRIEND A CHILD COULD EVER HOPE FOR. I LOVED HER DEARLY.
    SHE WILL BE MISSED.
