Dell Dee Wright, Sr. 86, was born in Menard, Texas March 25, 1933. He went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 17, 2019 in Bryan, surrounded by his loving family. A time for the family to receive friends will be Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 5 – 7 pm at Cozart Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church in Normangee with interment to follow at Hopewell Cemetery.

Dell is survived by his wife Carolyn Elizabeth Wright, two of his three children, Jamey Ray Wright and Penny Jeanine Hood, sister Anna M. Talley, brother, Benton Miller, eight grandchildren: Brandon, Kellie, Vincent, Lauren, Taylor, Salona, Simone, and Sarah, ten great grandchildren: Kaden, Emma, Colton, Mia, Fritz, Crosby, Zeke, Peyton, Amberlyn and Ocean. Daughter-in-law Debbie Bossier Wright, Son-in-law, Sloan Hood, nephews Michael Tally and Curtis Miller. Preceded in death by his oldest son Dell D Wright Jr, mother and father Luceal and Jim Wright, Mother and Father in Law Alma and Albert Caperton.

Dell attended elementary schools in San Saba, Tx and high school in Pecos, Texas. He had a football scholarship to Cisco Jr College where upon graduation he volunteered for the US army where he served during the Korean war stationed in Panama in 1954 – 1956.
After his time in the army he returned home to Pecos, Texas and married his high school sweetheart Carolyn Weathers Wright on March 15, 1957.

Dell graduated from UTEP in 1960 and began his teaching/coaching career in Las Cruces, N.M. His coaching career included: Hermosa Heights, NM, White Sands, N.M and Alief/Houston Texas. He enjoyed 7th grade coaching basketball, football, and track before moving to elementary teaching P.E.

After teaching for 42 years he and Carolyn retired and moved to Normangee Texas on July 3, 2003 where they enjoyed their time with Church Families, and the Geeland House Friends playing 42 and taking care of their home/yard. Their final move to Bryan, Tx was in 2018.
