Deborah A. Barker

deborah barker

September 4, 1953 ~ December 22, 2018

Deborah Alice Barker (Deb), passed away December 22, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. Her nieces and nephews knew her as “Crazy Aunt Deb”, an endearment that she loved so much. She was truly a good hearted, happy-go-lucky, loving woman that will be missed by everyone that knew her. She loved music and chocolate and children, and for her, that was a big part of what life was all about. She loved the beach (San Luis Pass), and enjoying time with her family and church friends. Deb always gave praises, never criticism, for her nieces and nephews, whom she called “her babies”. Deb also gave praise and glory to her Lord Jesus, whom she leaned on every day. Her church family gave her and her husband, Bob, such joy, and they lifted her up with their love.

Deb was born in Houston, on September 4, 1953, to Gerald and Ophelia Waltrip. She has two children, Jeremy and Jennifer Myers. She has one brother, James Waltrip. Her sisters are Sherry Wells, Lollie Hodge, and Janet Canter. She moved to Bedias in the early 1980’s, where she built her home and raised her two children. In 1989, Deb suffered a severe brain aneurysm, which she survived and conquered, and from that she learned to live life to the fullest. She was able to fulfill many things on her bucket list. She died peacefully and prayerfully. She was laid to rest on December 26, 2018, next to her father in Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch. Memorial services followed at her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
